Blue Light Blocking Lenses

This means that all of our reader’s lenses come with a blue light treatment on them, to protect your eyes from harmful blue light. What is blue light?
Blue light is High Energy Visible (HEV) light, which can be harmful to your eyes over time. HEV light goes straight through your retina and increases the risk of developing conditions associated with age degeneration of your eye. Short-term, however, blue light causes eye fatigue, headaches, and sleeplessness. After being on your computer, or watching TV all day do your eyes tend to be tired, but you’re having problems going to sleep? That could be from all of the blue light you’re exposed to all day, every day. In UV rays, there is HEV light which makes sun protection even more important.
What are blue light blockers?
Blue light blockers are lenses with a treatment on them that gives the lens blue light blocking technology. All of our reader lenses are made with a blue light treatment to block out blue light from your eyes, the treatment diverts HEV light from the eye which makes sure it doesn’t go straight through the retina and causes eye strain and headaches. We all know we spend way too much time on our devices every day, so why not protect your eyes while you’re at it!
Why do I need to block blue light?
Blue light can cause eye strain, headaches, and sleeplessness. Blue light can put a damper on the production of melatonin which is what your body produces to go to sleep. Blocking that light makes you produce more melatonin, which makes it easier to fall asleep. Since the pandemic, the demand for blue-light-blocking glasses has gone up, and with our readers, we add it, at no charge, in all of our lenses so you don’t have to think about it!
